Hello Eli,

Welcome to MySwissAlps! You need to avoid the motorways as shown on this map. There is no need to do so if you have booked a Swiss rental car. They all have the vignette.

Thanks for your reply

I don"t understand what do you mean by saying - "There is no need to do so if you have booked a Swiss rental car. They all have the vignette."

we do rent the car at Zurich airport- they will give me the vignette.

this means i do not have to pay for any road i choose In Switzerland ?

Thanks again

Eli

Hi Eli,

Indeed, if you rent the car at Zurich airport, it will have a vignette, so you can use all roads.

In deed we just did a car rental in Zurich and all rentals include vignette---it is a sticker on the car and I believe there are no toll booths( as we are used to in The US) that I never came upon ! Not to worry!

Thanks

You say you believe the is no fee - Please let me know for sure after you will drive

It is free only in Switzerland ?

What about roads in Germany and France?

The vignette is included with the rental --no separate fee listed----it is for Switzerland only

There are no further tolls except from a few really remote private roads. If you would stumble upon such a road you just pay on the spot, but the chances are close to zero you'll find such a road by coincidence.
