Hi ,

We are visiting Switzerland between 31st Aug and 6th Sep and had a query for our BASEL to INTERLAKEN train ride.

We have a swiss pass - 8 day.
For one our train journeys : The 12:01 train from BASEL ( Train no ICE 373) to INTERLAKEN, there seems to be a restaurant car in the train. Is this true?
To dine in this restaurant car - do we need any reservation. If yes what is reservation cost.
Are hot food options available in the restaurant car.
Is the food a-la-carte? or a set meal.?

It would be great if any one can help with this,
Many thanks in advance.

Regards
Sidd

Hi Sidd, and welcome to the forum. Yes, the 12:01 to Interlaken has a restaurant on board. You don't have to book in advance, but you can if you want to: either at the railway station before boarding (although that's a bit late) or in advance through the phone number mentioned at the SBB and the Elvetino website (Elvetino is the company arranging for catering in Swiss trains). Reservation costs are CHF 5.00 per seat. In most cases, there's an à la carte menu including hot dishes too.

Enjoy your dinner! Dining in a Swiss train is a great experience.
