We are travelling from South Africa and will be arriving in Milan early morning on 28 Nov and must be in Geneva by the afternoon of 30 Nov. We want to travel on the Bernina Express to Chur, Pontresina or St Moritz (or anywhere where we can spend the night of the 29th where there is snow). We are happy to stay wherever we can get reasonable overnight accommodation for two people. Do you have any suggestions for:

a) Reasonably priced accommodation where it will not take too long to get to Geneva on the 30th

b) we would like it to be somewhere where there is a strong likelihood of snow being on the ground, possibly near a ski lift where we can just get photos with skis - we don't need to ski unless this is possible for a very short time :).

We will really appreciate help with this - Fay

Hi Fay, welcome to MySwissAlps!

Snow on the ground is not guaranteed in any of these towns in late November. There's a chance in St. Moritz and Pontresina, although this year is extremely warm so the chances are not in your favor I'm afraid. You can take a cable car up to the mountains for snow. This would be easiest from St. Moritz, taking the cable car up to either Piz Nair or Mount Corvatsch. Snow on the ground in Chur will be very unlikely.

As for traveling to Geneva: from St. Moritz/Pontresina it takes about 6 hours, and from Chur about 4 hours. Details can be found in the timetable.

Once you have decided about which town to stay in, you can best post a new thread in the accommodation forum. See here for what to include in the thread please.
