We are new to Switzerland and have 2 adult visitors coming in town soon. We’d like to take a 4-5 day trip to explore Switzerland including the Glacier Express. However, I’ve noticed the 2 for 1 Swiss Pass and 2 for 1 Swiss Saver Flexi Pass are not sold to Swiss residents. Can you recommend the best (economical) pass for a family now living in Switzerland (2 adults, 5 children)? Can you recommend the best pass for our 2 visitors?

Hello amskel, and welcome! If your guests are visiting in April or May, they should definitely use the 2 for 1 offer on the Swiss Saver Pass or Swiss Saver Flexi Pass (which one is best, depends on your exact travel plans). That will be the cheapest deal.

The Swiss railways offer several passes to Swiss residents. It’s hard to say which one fits your needs, as that depends on your requirements. Do you need discounts during these 4 or 5 days only, or do you plan to use public transportation on a regular basis? If so, you could consider purchasing the (quite economical) 1, 2 or 3 year Half Fare Travelcard. This can be supplemented with 1-day travelpasses, allowing free traveling during one day. Children can use the Junior Travelcard, valid for a year and allowing them to travel along for free if accompanied by at least one parent. A complete overview of products for Swiss residents can be found here.

Have a great stay in Switzerland!
