We are flying into Zurich and arriving on 12/3/18 in AM. Then on 12/4, we would like to take a train in Morning from Zurich to Zermatt.

We will stay in Zermatt until 12/9 and return on an evening train from Zermatt to Zurich. These are probably the only two train trips we will need. What is the best pass and the cost? Do we save by buying early in the US or should we just buy upon arrival in Zermatt?

Also while in Zermatt in the first week of December, how long does daylight last?

    Thanks for all suggestions!

    Jim

Hi Jim and welcome to MySwissAlps!

If you are planning on skiing at Zermatt and so buying ski tickets to access lifts etc. then either point to point tickets or 2 Saver Day Passes are your best options probably.

The Saver Day Pass is explained here: http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass – prices go up closer to departure date, so at this point it may or may not be cheaper than just buying point to point tickets.

The timetable will give you pricing for the trips: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable (the first price noted is for half-fare card holders so double it for the regular fare.

Sunset in Zermatt in early December is just before 17:00.
