I plan to travel to Basel by plane on the morning of September 19. I would then like to take a train to Interlaken and return to Basel on the evening of Sept. 20. What is the most economical ticket you recommend and should I purchase in advance for discount

If you are just staying in Interlaken without any mountain trips, then I suggest the Supersaver tickets (they are not flexible tickets you need to travel on your chosen train and cannot break your route), see more details at http://www.myswissalps.com/tr aintickets/switzerland. You can search for Supersaver Tickets in the timetable: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable, Use the advanced timetable on the right side.

If you would like to go on a mountain trips too, then you need a calculation (http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass), but first you should know where you would like to go up.
