Family of 4 will be visiting Geneva early June for 3 days, then heading to Wengen for 6 days. Initially we were considering the train–3 transfers, but now wondering if a boat option across Lake Geneva to a train is possible and a good consideration. Given limited time in Geneva, a day was going to include a boat cruise, but now thinking maybe the boat cruise could be part of transport onto next stop. Wondering if doable and whether or not a consideration? Any insight is appreciated. (noting we would have lugguage–traveling as light as possible, 1 small roller board/backpacks each??)

No, a boat trip on Lake Geneva is not worth the complexity as part of an ‘interchange day’ between Geneva and Wengen.

Swiss lake boat trips are best limited to day excursions when one is staying near one of the big lakes. For example boat trips on Lake Geneva work weel if staying in Geneva, Lausanne or montreux areas. Boat trips on Lake Luzern are best if you are staying near Lake Luzern. As you are staying a long time in Wengen, I recommend you do your boats trips on the lakes nearest there, ie Thunersee and Brienzersee.

Thanks. That’s what I needed to know.
