    Hello,

We will be traveling from Lake Como to Grindelwald and then from Grindelwald to Zurich (not using any travel passes), do we need to purchase train tickets in advance or we can just purchase them when we are at the train stations? Our regional passes do not cover these portions of the travel. Does anyone know if Swiss Transfer Pass will cover the above train routes? Thanks!

You might get more of a response if you posted this in the Rail forum rather than Trip Reports. 😎

You can buy tickets at the station if that suits you better.

Yes the Swiss Transfer Ticket would work but whether it is cost effective depends on a comparison with point to point tickets. You can find the fares for any trip using the SBBTimetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable). The fare you see will assume you have a half-fare Card so double it to get full fare.

The Swiss Transfer Ticket is being phased out at the end of this year probably because it’s cost-effectiveness has been largely eroded by the availability of the Saver Day Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/on edaytravelpass/details).
