Hi everyone. We are still trying to work out where to spend four days in late October. We were thinking Brig but now I am wondering if Saas Fee would be better? Travelling as a family – kids 9 and 7yo. Kids really want to see snow (they never have) but I realise October they are more likely to see sludge. Is there any where anyone can recommend, ideally along the train route Zurich – Zug – Andermatt – Brig – Geneva? Though we could change plans and go anywhere in Switzerland!

    Hi Jennyburung,

These towns are very different. Please have a look here:

In short: Saas-Fee is pretty isolated and one would explore the immediate surrounding, not a wide area. Brig is much bigger and a better base to explore all of the canton Valais, if you like. There won’t be snow in Brig, and perhaps a bit in Saas-Fee. No snow in Saas-Fee is likely as well, but you’ll be closer to snow as it’s much higher. The car free villages Bettmeralp and Riederalp (between Andermatt and Brig) are also high up on the mountain, but with a good cable car connection down to the train station.

I moved your thread to the Miscellaneous forum because it’s about towns, not accommodation. But feel free to post there once you have picked a located and dates and need help finding accommodation.
