Hello, there is indeed a bus from Domodossola to Brig - we travelled om it last year and it is a lovely ride. You can find out more by going to postbus.ch and looking at the leisure trips part ot the site - this trip is to be found by choosing Valais from drop-down arrow. You can download timetable nearer the time - currently showing 2012 times which could give you an idea of whether the Centovalli train will connect with it. We also have done the centovalli route (this year) but in opposite direction! Again a lovely trip which is covered by Swiss Pass. Cost of bus trip with Swiss Pass only requires 6Chf Alpine Supplement. The bus takes about !hr 50 mins and the train about 30 mins. The bus stations in Domodossola and in Brig are not far from the railway stations so there wouldn't be any problem getting from one to another and connections from Brig to Lausanne run about every half hour. Use the sbb online timetable to get all the timings you need once the 2013 timetable is online. When looking for bus times enter Domodossola as your from location, Brig as your destination and via Simplon Blick to get the bus times - otherwise it will show only train connections.
We always use the Swiss Pass - the whole journey from Locarno to Lausanne would be covered apart from the afore-mentioned 6 Chf Alpine ticket (payable to bus driver). I don't know about Swiss card - you can check that on this site under rail passes. If you plan to travel a lot during your stay the Swiss Pass is great value for money and very convenient (no queuing for tickets except for the discounted cablecars etc) - we spent approx 40 - 50% adding discounted travel costs onto cost of Pass (Saver variant for 2 of us travelling together) compared with full price point-to-point tickets. It also serves as a Museum Pass - free entrance to most museums and discounts on the few that aren't free.
Hope this helps your planning - have a wonderful time!
