seeking alternatives. I understand that I can buy the swiss pass in Milan, is this correct? any idea where in Milan I can get the swiss pass?

    many thanks for your time.

    Hi mikemike,

I wouldn’t know whether it is available at the main train station in Milan. I don’t expect it to be. May I ask where you are from? I assume you have checked all resellers and shipping options for your country at the Swiss Pass page? If you order through this Swissrailways.com page you have to option of delivery to any Swiss address (e.g. your hotel), which only takes 3 business days, or less if you pay for expedited delivery.

    Thank you Arno.
From singapore. Will probably buy passes from sinagpore, unless someone knows if I can buy from a sbb office in Milan.

    Hi mikemike,

For your information: you can get the Swiss Pass through this page of RailEurope Singapore and have it delivered in 2 business days, or even quicker: order it there and then collect it from the People’s Park Centre in Singapore at no additional charge. All these options are listed at the Swiss Pass page as soon as you view the details of Rail Europe’s offer.

I hope this helps. Enjoy your stay in Switzerland!

Many thanks again. Will go for the 4plus 1 day free promo on offer. (1st class) can’t afford 1st class airfare for the wife but at least I’ll give her 1st class train tickets 🙂

Just wished I had bought earlier as you did recommend a much cheaper alternative in another thread.

Anyway tried booking it but……filled in all the details only to have the website go down…sigh…

Lastly 1 more question, I book EC12 milan to chiasso and the web notice says must switch to ICN10012. Does the train wait for us folks as I have kids and luggage.

    Hi,

I can’t find the connection you’re referring to. If I look at the schedule for tomorrow, EC12 departs from Milan at 7:10. Arrival in Lucerne is 10:41 with one change to IR2170 in Arth-Goldau. It looks like you can optionally switch to ICN10012 in Chiasso, but then you need to switch again in Arth-Goldau. So that’s one more switch than necessary. I would not do that with kids and luggage.

In general: if the change is suggested by the timetable it is doable. Trains will depart on schedule but may wait if an important connecting train is delayed. No guarantees though.

sorry just being cautious as I have kids in tow.

Web says change trains in Chiasso to icn 10012 at 0745 but the train from milan is schdule to arrive at 0749. Do i need to worry?

(Milano Centrale – Zürich HB) Travel advice: (EC 12) Passengers to Lugano, Bellinzona, Arth-Goldau, Zug and Zürich HB are kindly requested to use the ICN 10012, departure from Chiasso at 07:45. Further information

    Hi mikemike,

You’re traveling to Lucerne, right? The travel advice is not mentioning Lucerne. I think you just need to change in Arth-Goldau, see my previous comment.

You can best ask to train crew to be sure. Either way, you’ll get there!
