Wild camping in the Alps near Montreux
A traveler and his wife are planning a couple of days of hiking near Monthey. They are looking for clarity on camping rules in Switzerland, specifically how to read a camping map that indicates where they can and cannot camp. They want to ensure they're camping in permitted areas during their trip.
- Camping is prohibited in red marked areas on the map.
- Avoid camping in yellow marked areas as they are possible future protected zones.
- You can camp in non-marked areas above the tree line, but always respect local signs.
- Check local guidelines for any specific rules before setting up camp.

Hello, me and my wife want to hike near Monthey couple days. I google little bit about camping rules in Switzerland and came across this topic — http://www.myswissalps.com/fo rum/topic/camping-above-the-tree-line-in-switzerland
Jdongg (nikname of guy from topic above) found this map: http://www.respektiere-deine-grenzen.ch/index.php?id=428&L=0 Looks like this map shows where people can set camp and where not. I am really sorry for asking it, but can someone explain how to read this map? I can camp in marked zones or vice versa?
