Hello Kronie & Welcome to MySwissAlps
Both Champery and Villars Sur Ollon are beautiful mountain locations for hiking. Champery is in a valley and Villars is perched on a sunny plateau with more open views. Personally I would opt for Villars as the weather forecast for the whole area is mixed this week! They are lots of 8-12 km hikes to enjoy. You may wish to take a look at our hiking information, especially the guide to map choice:

The Villars Tourist Office on the high street is very good – possibly the same is true of Champery but I don’t know for sure. Enjoy your hiking!

Actually the forecast this week is pretty spectacular for Champery! Champery isn’t in a valley – it’s half way up a mountain, with amazing hiking and biking opportunities up to the Dents du Midi, the Barme plateau, across to Les Crosets and beyond.
Just down the valley you have the thermal baths to relax in, and the village as a superb swimming pool, skating rink and tennis courts.
Our tourist office on the Grande Rue is open every day for advice and information about where to go and what to do.

Hello lesmarmottes & welcome to MySwissAlps
Thanks for your input! There is no doubt, both locations will be great for hiking this week. The forecast is indicating light rain late Thursday afternoon – but as you will know you can never be sure in the mountains. The thermal baths are a great suggestion, whatever the weather. Thanks again for sharing your suggestions for activities.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I realized after looking at more photos that we had gone to Champery 10 years ago and really liked it then. So we will probably go to Villars this time.
