I do want to close down my account, for I shall not use it anymore, but how???

Just go to your account page and click "Edit account". You can unsubscribe from e-mail or delete your account there. I noticed you live in The Netherlands, so you might as well use the Dutch version of the website: myswissalps.com/ nl/account.
