We have our trip planned for Sept 22 in Switzerland and I would like to purchase our 15 day Swiss Travel Pass now, however, the online Swiss Rail site indicated the tickets would be mailed via postal as soon as possible but at least two weeks before the start date. The online download version said the PDF for download would be available as soon as possible but again at least two weeks before the start date of the Swiss Travel Pass. We will be in transit two weeks prior and cannot risk receiving the tickets this late. What are your experiences in purchasing Swiss Travel Passes in advance? Would it be better to purchase them when we arrive in Switzerland Sept 22? Thank you for your assistance!

    Hi cjgorius, welcome to MySwissAlps!

No problem, you can receive the pass in time. This is what you need to do: go to http://www.swissrailways.com/ en, start ordering the pass and select “Online Ticket” when the delivery options are presented. Then, in the Notes field, let them know you need to receive the pass by a certain date, or even right away, and they will take care of that. It’s a common request for them.

Alternatively, you can order through the US site at http://www.raileurope.com/rai l-tickets-passes/swiss-pass/index.html. They won’t hold the order and e-mail the pass asap. If you are interested in a 1st class pass: there’s a discount on it now, please see here.

Just let me know if you need further assistance.
