Hi,

I have a question on using the EURail pass when buying tickets for Luzern Boat and Rigi Kulm train.

My understanding is I get 50% off on both the boat and Rigi Kulm train ticket.

My question is does it count as using 1 day of the EURail pass or I just need to show the EURail pass when I but the ticket?

This is a common question.

Any rail pass used to purchase a discounted ticket must be considered as a ‘use day’ on that day, I’m afraid you can’t have a non valid rail pass on the day otherwise you would be getting something for nothing.

The Eurail Global Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/eurailglobalpass) is the least best travel pass for journeys in Switzerland. Is there a particular reason that you have chosen Eurail? You would travel for free with the Swiss Travel Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/swisstravelpass), for example.

I’m actually going to 5 countries (Switzerland, Austria, Czech, Slovakia, and Hungary) on this trip so it makes more sense to go with the EURail pass than a Swiss pass for the international routes.

if you are traveling in several EU countries, Eurail Global Pass makes sense. You can find the validity map of it here: http://www.myswissalps.com/eurailglobalpass/validity.

You have to use a day on your Flexi pass to be able to get any discount.
