We will be traveling from Geneva to Lauterbrunnen with our Eurail pass on September 10th. The pass does not cover the train from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen. Is it possible to purchase this ticket in Geneva? I’m not sure what it would be like to wait and purchase in Interlaken since the marathon is that day.

At this time we are undecided as to which pass best suits our needs. I’m sure the weather will be the deciding factor.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Kparish4,

You can buy that ticket at any staffed train station in Switzerland. You can’t buy it from the ticketing machines because you will get a 25% discount. The machines only sell full tickets and 50% discounted tickets.

The best time to buy a pass is a week (or more) before your trip. If you buy on the spot, some passes like the Eurail Pass will not be available. With a week until your departure, you can still choose from all passes, regardless whether you print it at home or have it shipped to you. You’ll find some guidance on how to choose here: myswissalps.com/train/ ticketspasses/practica l/ chooserailpass.
