Hi All

First timer to Europe ....

From Düsseldorf I will head to Switzerland, my Hubby and I would like to see as much as possible

Really want to do the following - Glacier Express, Luzern, Gotthard Panorama Express ..... we have 4 or 5 Nights - then have to head to via to Italy Cinque Terre

Train from Düsseldorf ...... where should I start which is my best option of town to start in Switzerland (and accommodation recommendations)

Love your help as a first timer to Europe ( We have a Eurail Global Pass)

Thank you very much, look forward to your advise

Hi Kazza and welcome to MySwissAlps.com!

That sounds exciting - to be here, in Europe for the first time! :)

Eurail Global Pass is great as you are visiting more countries. You can check the validity map here: www.myswissalps.com/eurailglobalpass/validity. You can buy it here: www.myswissalps.com/eurailglobalpass/price.

Glacier Express travels between Zermatt and St. Moritz. Gotthard Panorama Express goes from Lucerne to Lugano. You can combine them in one long day for example from Lucerne to Zermatt. Read about how is it possible (search for the title 'Gotthard Panorama Express and Glacier Express in one day'): www.myswissalps.com/gotthardpanoramaexpress.

If you combine them, you can spend 2 nights in Lucerne, 2-3 nights in Zermatt and then travel further to Italy. As you are going to Italy, make sure to read this one: www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/italy.

As you are coming from Germany, I recommend this one: www.myswissalps.com/traintickets/germany/.

I hope this helps to start your planning,

ILdiko
