    Hi,

    I have not been to Switzerland for a few years and I’m wondering about food and drink costs, in the resort of Wengen and surrounding areas.

    Is it cheaper to buy picnic food/drink in Interlaken, rather than Wengen?

    Can anyone help with the price of the following;

    In mountain huts/cafes;

    Large beer
    Small beer
    Glass of wine
    Coffee
    Tea
    Hot chocolate

    Supermarket;

    Bottle of wine
    Bottles of beer
    Bottle of coke/fanta etc
    Bottled water
    Ready made rools/sandwiches
    Small bar of chocolate

    Hotel;

    Glass of wine
    Large glass of wine
    Cola

    Hi andrea. I can’t tell all prices exactly, but if you’re looking for the cheapest way to arrange for your food: just buy it at one of the supermarkets in Interlaken, rather than in hotels, mountain huts or other catering facilities. Denner is a discount supermarket. Migros and Coop offer cheaper brands as well. Both supermarkets have online shops, allowing you to select products and get a good idea of current prices. Links to both supermarkets and further tips can be found here.
