    Hello, need some urgent info.

We were planning to board glacier express from Zermatt to st Moritz.

We have 15 days swiss pass.

But now it’s showing No seat availability for 7.06.19 in GEX.

    What to do now?

Can we board regular train on this route?

Will it be worthy as compared to GEX? DO these regular trains have good window view?

    PLEASE opine.

Just take the regular train. The windows aren’t quite as big but the scenery is just the same and you’ll probably have room to move around the train from side to side. You can stop off and explore Brig and Andermatt along the way. Buy sandwiches instead of the expensive GEX meals or stop at Oberalp Pass for lunch for the price of the reservation charges you saved.

You called for someone to opine. That’s mine. Enjoy.

I check the SBB website, for travel from zermatt to st moritz route using the glacier express route by regular train seems to be not running. The train route from zermatt to st moritz is now routed to zurich. Please check if I got it right.

There are seats available on the GEX on the day you wish to travel in Excellence class if that is of interest to you:

My questions is about the regular train from zermatt to st Moritz using the same glacier express train line. Are they still operating that on the 26 May 2019.

Yes the regular trains go regularly. You have to change trains a few times along the journey but it is the same track as the GEX.

FYI: There are 12 seats on the glacier express in 2nd class on 26.05.19. There are also 5 seats remaining in 1st class. It is an express train and you don’t have to change trains.

You need to look for Zermatt to St Moritz via Andermatt otherwise the timetable will direct you to the faster route via Zurich. The timetable always suggests the fastest route by default. The regular trains depart hourly at 37 minutes past the hour.
