We are trying to reserve seats from Chur to Zermatt on this train but cant. We have paid for the Swiss travel pass. It advertises that the trip is FREE but it is now asking us to pay extra. These web sites are very confusing and very frustrating. Would some one please help as we would dearly love to do this trip .

We are wanting to travel on the 16th May.

Hi Travelbreak, thanks for joining us!

Glacier Express seat reservations are not included in any pass. So the trip is free with a Swiss Travel Pass (i.e. you don't need a ticket), but you do need to reserve seats. I am not sure if you assume free seat reservations or if you are unable to book just seats without paying for the ride.

More information is here:

In your case you can either book seats through your local retailer www.raileurope.co.nz#t ab3 or through www.glacierexpress.ch/ EN/spezial_offers/Page s/default.aspx.

I hope this answers your question.

Are you required to pay to reserve a seat on the train?
