Golden Pass seat reservation needed?

We’re travelling across Switzerland the last 2 weeks of May. We’re landing in Geneva and flying out of Zurich. We plan on buying a half of pass, spending one night in Montreux, a few nights in Jungfrau and a couple nights in Zurich. We want to take the golden pass across. Just wondering if we should reserve our seats and buy the half off before we get there or is it better to do it all when we arrive? We’re buying the half off, its better for us because no time restraints and we plan on traveling a little bit within the Jungfrau region but probably not enough to warrant buying a region pass. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 🙂

In May you cannot make reservations on the Golden Pass Line between Montreux and Zweisimmen (which is the only leg that people bother reserving for normally) in May.

There is construction on a short section of the line between Montbovon–Château-d’Oex and passengers will be transferred by bus for that portion of the trip. It’s only about 10km.

Thanks for the speedy reply 🙂 So really there is no need for us to buy any passes before we land in Geneva? Also we are staying in Wengen for three nights and plan on going to the top of the Jungfrau as well as visiting a couple other places in the region. I’ve been reading the the half off pass is worth it because of the money you save in that region alone. Do you find this to be accurate?

    Hi Spark,

I was just really commenting on your ability to make reservations on the Golden Pass LIne. I don;t know what your full itinerary in Switzerland looks like.

You might want to read “How to choose the best travel pass” (http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass), download the handy spreadsheet calculator and do the math.
