Golden Pass Tickets

I have gone to the Golden Pass website to reserve 2 seats from Lucerne to Interlaken and it displays 3 cars with “free seats” in each car. It tells me that they will cost $10, which I am assuming is a reservation fee. My questions are:
    1) I am going to purchase a 2 for 1 swiss pass, so will there be any more charges for these tickets, it doesn’t indicate whether they are 1st or 2nd class
    2) when you have such a choice this far in advance, which seats would you recommend choosing?

    Thank-you for your help.

actually my query is very similar. I want to book on the golden pas train travelling from Montreux to Interlaken Ost via Zweisimmen. I have found the timetable, but can’t seem to book my seats(August 23rd.) Is it too early, or how would I go about it. We will also have a swiss pass by then. Hope you can help.

Hello katrinka and aussie! You only have to pay a reservation fee if you have a valid Swiss Pass when making the Golden Pass journey. So no, there won’t be any other charges other than the reservation fee. The seats displayed should also tell you whether they’re in a first or second class coach (please note the ‘1’ or ‘2’ at the bottom of the selected coach). Both 1st and 2nd class are fine in my opinion. 2nd class will allow you to have great views along the way; 1st class coaches have even larger windows and a bit more luxury.

Aussie, yes, you can book for August 23. Just follow the link to Golden Pass reservation under the header ‘How to purchase railway seat reservations’ at the seat reservation page.

Thanks. As usual, that was very helpful. We will be coming to Montreux from Lausanne, and are planning a trip up to Rochet de Naye (please excuse my bad spelling!) We will then go by the Golden pass train to Interlaken. Can we leave our luggage at the Montreux railway for a few hours? Thanks once again.

Hi Aussie! Yes, you can use lockers at the railway station of Montreux.
