Hello all,

I am currently in Stalden and would like to take the Gornergrat train in a couple days (I’m thinking Sunday). I would like to hike to Riffelalp, catch the train up to Gornergrat, then return to Zermatt.

Can I purchase tickets the day-of? And can I buy them at the Riffelalp station? I’m thinking that would be easier than buying a time-specific ticket ahead of time. Then I don’t have to worry about timing my hike just right.

If I must buy them ahead of time, I don’t have access to a printer, so I assume I just head into the nearest SBB office? Can I do that the day-of?

No need to buy ahead, just use the ticket machine at Riffelalp station when you get there.

Hi aderoy,

Agree with 1960man. You can get the tickets right off the ticket booth at the Gornergrat base station. You can also buy them online.

The ticket is valid for the whole day. Just make sure you check the timetable and take note of the last train back.
