Grindelwald to Zurich Airport in the morning

We are planning to enjoy a few days at Grindelwald before flying back to Australia next August. Our flight will depart at 1.30pm and just wondering if it is worth risking travelling from Grindelwald on the morning of the flight or should we travel the afternoon before and stay in Zurich the night before?

You can arrive at the airport as early as 8:16 AM if you take the 5:19 AM train. Please verify that mid December for your exact travel date when the timetable has been updated for next year. So this is fairly safe, but whether it's the best choice depends on how you like getting up that early.
