Some years ago we did a walk that i think might have been the grosse scheidegg walk. It finished up on top of a hill where there were lots of people and swiss wrestling ,BBQ,s etc. We,ve forgotten where this walk started from. Could anyone help us? I do remember that we caught a bus to get down again, but once again, cant remember where to! Thanks.

Hello aussie,

Maybe you walked from First to Grosse Scheidegg? First can be reached by gondolas (Firstbahn) starting in Grindelwald. The hike is very nice, not very long and certainly not difficult. And yes, at Grosse Scheidegg you can take the postbus back to Grindelwald or Meiringen. I've never seen activities like Swiss wrestling and BBQ's at Grosse Scheidegg.

On the other hand you may have reached Grosse Scheidegg from the other side (Rosenlaui? Schwarzwaldalp?) walking in southwestern direction.

I hope this helps!

Thanks very much. I think that you might be right and we started from Grindelwald. I remember it as being quite a long walk though. I was happy tp hear that you don't think it is. We did the walk just before Swiss national day, so the festivities might have been part of that.
