Many thanks for this wonderful forum. It has helped in planning our trip in May. We will be travelling by train so would prefer accommodation reasonably close to the station and close to be able to catch boat cruises on the lake. I was wondering about Hotel Walter Au Lac? Is it a great place to stay? With great reviews I was surprised it had a listing with 3 stars. Hotels which had more stars in their ratings appear to be located further from the main area of Lugano – and of course more expensive! I have looked at the link on accommodation in this forum so was really keen on personal recommendations.

Reviews and stars are not related. A 2 star hotel can have 10/10 points while a 5 star can have only 2/10. If it is a good 3 star hotel then it will have good reviews. 🙂
