Hi.

I and my friend is planning to visit milan and then move to Zermatt by train. Our plan is like, EC from Milano Centrale to Brig and Regio or IR from Brig to Zermatt.

But there're some problems about ticket.

We are gonna use Swiss Travel Pass that is available from Domodossola to Zermatt.

Some websites say that we have to make a reservation in advance if we use EC cuz it has reserved seats.

So we need to make a reservation from Milano to Brig but I also have Swiss Travel Pass and I don't wanna pay for overlapping section of Domodossola to Brig.

How can I buy the ticket? Is it possible to buy the ticket from MIlano to Domodossora and wish nobody who reserve the seat where I'm sitting get on the train while Domodossola to Brig?

Hope someone gives me advice.Thank you.

Hi tonpusono, thanks for your first post here!

You only need a ticket from Milano Centrale to Domodossola. It will include a seat reservation if the train requires it. You can buy it from any of the websites listed on myswissalps.com/ traintickets/italy/ price.

It's highly unlikely, but theoretically someone could book the same seat from Domodossola to Brig. If that would happen and all seats would be taken, you'd have to stand for 30 minutes. I never heard of this issue from anyone yet. I would not worry about that. Your Swiss Travel Pass covers Domodossola to Brig to Zermatt.

Thank you so much!

Can I make reservation when I arrive Milano Centrale just before I get on the train?

Or should I buy it before I leave my country?

That's an option but there's no guarantee the train won't be fully booked. If you know your departure time it's more convenient to buy that ticket online (see the provided link). You can print it at home.

Enjoy your trip!
