Hi 71ufgrad,
We took the train from Montreux to Gruyeres, changing trains at Montbovon, lovely scenery on the way. We got on a bus that was waiting at Gruyeres station up to the medieval town and castle, and walked back down, only about a 10/15 minute walk on a little path, to the cheese factory next to the station, which is well worth a visit. All included with a Swiss Travel Pass if you have one. Returned to Montreux the same way, changing again at Montbovon. We did not go to Broc, so can’t help you there.
Have fun,
Narelle

Hello 71ufgrad,
The journey you mention can be train only or a mix of trains and busses, depending on the route you choose. Please use the timetable link below to find out about connections and traveling times for all available routes.

You will need to look for the station Broc, Fabrique in the advanced timetable to find the correct connection.
Best,
Steph

We took a bus from Vevey (town next to Montreux). It was a 20 min. ride to Chatel St. Denis. Had a quick bite at the cafe at that train station and took the train to Broc Fabrique to visit Callier chocolate factory.
We did not want to pay high price for Chocolate Train. (I had booked Bella Epoque train from Zweisimmen to Montreux on Golden Pass Line but due to construction and delays did not make that train) You can get the Chocolate train experience by reserving Bella Epoque on Golden Pass Line. We were traveling from Lucerne to Interlaken to Montreux.
SBB staff at all train stations is very helpful.
Chocolate train also includes Gruyere. If we had time we would have done that independently too.
We did not have to pay a dime because we had STP.
