We will be traveling to the Berner Oberland region the first few days of September. We will be staying in Murren. We really only have 3 full days. Is it possible to cover the highlights of Interlaken and Lauterbrunnen all in one day? I don't think we are particularly interested in the town of Interlaken but possibly a boat ride, getting off at some of the stops. In Lauterbrunnen, I think we would like to rent bikes to see the area. Is a half day in each place enough? Or would you recommend just picking one or the other?
Interlaken (more specifically Unterseen - Interlaken is a 'new town' only developed after the 1850s) has a small old town but not a lot else.
The best way to squeeze both in would be to get down to Interlaken early, get the boat to Brienz, get the train back and immediately change into the Lauterbrunnen train
Hi MRBoyd and welcome to MySwissAlps.com!
It depends on what you would like to do. While the old town of Interlaken is not that big, you can get to Harder Kulm from Interlaken: www.myswissalps.com/harderkulm.
The same applies to Lauterbrunnen (or similar at least). From Lauterbrunnen you can visit waterfalls (Trümmelbach, Staubbach and many other smaller ones in the valley). I recommend this route: www.myswissalps.com/hiking/lauterbrunnen-stechelberg/route.
But from Lauterbrunnen you can also visit other places: www.myswissalps.com/lauterbrunnen/activities.
I am sure you cannot visit everything in 3 days in the Jungfrau region, but you can see many wonderful things. :)

Hi MRBoyd,
There's quite a lot you can see and do within a short time span. Many activities are close to one another. You can check traveling times with the aid of the timetable (https://www.myswissalps.com/timetable) and the "Route" tabs of all activities Ildikó linked to.
For your other days from Mürren, this 1-day trip across the Jungfrau region might inspire you: www.myswissalps.com/onedayjungfrauregion.
