Jungfrau Pass or Bernese Oberland Pass

Short summary – read this first

A traveler is planning a 7-day trip to the Bernese Oberland in July, focusing on hiking and exploring popular sites like Wengen, Murren, and Lauterbrunnen. They are deciding between the BO Pass, Swiss Travel Pass, and Jungfrau Pass, wanting to know which is best for their itinerary and coverage.

Key takeaways:
  • Check the detailed maps for pass validity to ensure all your areas are covered.
  • The Jungfrau Pass offers 6 days of access, while other options like the Regional Pass allow for more days.
  • The Swiss Travel Pass also offers broad coverage across Switzerland, which could be beneficial for wider travel.

We will be travelling in July 2015 to the Bernese Oberland and will visit primarily sites in the BO such as Brienz, Wengen, Murren, Grindewald, Lauterbrunnen, etc. We will be here 7 days and will primarily hike, take boat rides, etc in these areas- we will be using many of the lifts, gondolas and cable cars. I am trying to choose between the BO Pass, the Swiss Pass and the Jungfrau Pass. The Jungfrau Pass sounds better because it covers more days, even though it is just in the Jungfrau area. Which pass would work best and are our areas all covered by the Jungfrau Pass? Thanks much!

    Hello jamesmorrone,

In order to see where the several passes are valid, please download the maps from these pages:

I am not sure which of the two Jungfrau passes you have been looking into. I guess the first one in the list. It’s valid for 6 days, but the Regional Pass (the last one in the list) is valid for 4, 6, 8 or 10 days. So the number of day is not the issue here. Please see the links for all information about the passes, including points of sale, how they work and more.

I hope this helps. If not, do let us know!
