Hi. We are visiting Jungfraujoch from Interlaken, going via Grindelwald and returning via Wengen in December. We would like to stop off for about an hour to see an alpine village in the area. It will be late afternoon so we thought we would catch a bit of day light and then some Christmas lights at dusk maybe, returning to Interlaken in the dark and maybe seeing it lit up also. Two questions which are both subjective!

    1. An idea of how long we woukd be likely to spend at Jungfraujoch. We are elderly with restricted mobility so we won’t be sledging etc. Just looking at what’s there.

    2. Would it be more interesting/atmospheric to stop on way back at KS or Wengen.

Any thoughts would be useful. Thank you.

    Hi Tijoco,

    1. The trip to Jungfraujoch from Interlaken West via Grindelwald will take you approximately 2.5 hours. At the top there are multiple restaurants, a handful of souvenir shops, the Ice Palace with its many ice sculptures, a Lindt Chocolate Heaven and an observation deck which you can access via a lift. You can also step out in the snow and enjoy the view around you or take pictures for memories. You could easily spend an hour up there or less. More information about Jungfraujoch from this link:

    2. Definitely Wengen. On your way up and down you would need to change in Kleine Scheidegg anyway. Here’s the link for information on Wengen: http://www.myswissalps.com/we ngen

    Hope this helps!

    Best regards,

    Anna

    Hi Anna –

<<“Definitely Wengen. On your way up and down you would need to change in Kleine Scheidegg anyway.”>>

I couldn’t agree more. Kleine Scheidegg is train station and a couple of hotels.

    Wengen is a pretty village.

If Tijoco checks this map and zooms in, in the aerial view, the difference will be obvious:

    Also-Sunset is at 4:40 PM (1640):
