I will be in Switzerland from Oct. 6 through the 13th. There was a Zürich roundtrip I was thinking of taking:
1. Zürich to Linthal via an S-Bahn train
2. Yellow Post Bus westbound on Highway 17 from Linthal to Flüelen
3. Gotthard train from Flüelen back to Zürich
First question: when is the end of mountain bus routes in autumn? I might also take the four pass Post Bus trip the starts in Meirengen if the passes are open.
Second: Has anybody traveled on Highway 17 in this area and is there much mountain scenery?

Hi Jlovda,
I assume you are talking about the Klausen Pass between Linthal and Flüelen. There’s a regular Postauto bus that runs daily on this route during the summer season between June and September. I apologize for being confused by the timetable. Can someone tell me via the timetable whether the bus runs at all in October? Once a week, if so what day. never?

Hi John,
Yes, there are bus services on this route in October. However there are no direct services from Flüelen to Linthal and vice versa. You would have to switch bus in Balm. Based on the printed timetable, there are daily services from 4 Oct – 17 Oct. From 20 Oct – 11 Dec, the bus only runs on Monday, Saturday and Sunday.
