Hello . I’ve read on the forum info how beautiful the trip is on the Bernina Express. I wonder if we could go on this train on our return from Lugano to Zurich. Perhaps to Chur then a normal train? Would the scenery be nice on this leg of the trip? If this is possible, how can I reserve 2 tickets. We have our swiss travel passes already. Approx. how long would the trip be doing it this way.

    Thank you in anticipation.

    Hi aussie,

It’s a wonderful journey indeed! A full route description can be found on myswissalps.com/ berninaexpress/ gettingthere; that saves you the time of browsing through all the forum posts.

That page describes the route in the reverse direction of what you need to do. In your case you would take the 10 AM Bernina Express bus from Lugano to Tirano, then the Bernina Express train from Tirano to Chur (arrival 6:20 PM). There are direct trains from Chur to Zurich. That trip takes 75 to 90 minutes.

You don’t need tickets as you have Swiss Travel Passes. You only need seat reservation for the bus and the train. Links to book seats can be found on myswissalps.com/bernin aexpress/tickets.

Please don’t post duplicates threads. I removed the one you posted yesterday.

    Enjoy the ride!

Hello Arno. Sorry that I asked the same question twice. I wasn’t sure that I had sent it properly. The trip would be far too long unfortunately so we’ll leave it for another trip. We’ll be in Switzerland in August. Can hardly wait! All the best to all the moderators. You’re terrific.
