Hi Rohan
You are indeed misinterpreting, all three sites say it’s closed on those dates. Just download the timetable and you will see it says “geschlossen – closed”: http://www.matterhornparadise .ch/en/Current-news/Timetable
However Gornergrat is open and you get equally stunning views from there http://www.myswissalps.com/go rnergrat as well as over the town so still plenty to choose from 😉

No it doesn’t say it is closed.
On the timetable in your link it is shown as open.
Also, I tried a ‘ghost’ booking for 26 April on the web site here:
http://www.matterhornparadise .ch/en/Book/Online-tickets/Single-tickets-Matterhorn-glacier-paradise
and it gave me a price
also confirmed as open on the official timetable:

Thanks 1960man for your help in doing the dummy booking for a confirmation.
I have written to the info email id on their site asking the tickets for my group (larger than 10), hoping they will alo provide some confirmation on the dates.
I will keep everyone here informed
Thanks
Rohan

Hi Rohan
Apologies I misread the timetable, glad that 1960man had a look at it too to spot the mistake!
Very odd though that the Klein Matterhorn and SBB timetable are not matching, however good you contacted them and do let us know the outcome!

No Worries Maria. I am still awaiting any response from matterhorn info email
In the meanwhile, I researched again and it has gotten more confusing. I searched on the official timetable website and found multiple time tables for matterhorn glacier paradise.
http://www.fahrplanfelder.ch/ fileadmin/fap_pdf_fiel ds/2019/2285.pdf
http://www.fahrplanfelder.ch/ fileadmin/fap_pdf_fiel ds/2019/2286.pdf .
and then there is http://www.fahrplanfelder.ch/ fileadmin/fap_pdf_fiel ds/2019/2280.pdf which gives a break up of time table across all legs of the journey.
It appears that the cable cars from Zermat to Furi and Furi to Tr. Steg are closed from 24th Apr to 1st May while the ones from Tr. Steg continue to work without any closure .
I am wondering why would they the keep the last leg of the journey working while the earlier connections are closed

No – remember that what you are looking at is a facsimile of a traditional paper timetable but sourced using modern tech. The two links are one in the same ‘piece of paper’ ie one page of the traditional printed timetable with two table numbers printed on it (2285 and 2286)
The third link is to table 2280 which is a different cable car route.
To explain:
The lift system (mainly for the benefit of skiers) in Zermatt has been dramatically modernised over the last 15 years.
Table 2285 refers to the old 1960s cable car (with a single car for each direction) which as you can see is closed in winter (it’s design being outmoded for skiers) but open in the summer (because the old design works OK for walkers)
Table 2280 is the route of the modern Matterhorn Express, a ‘Gondelbahn’ type lift with continuously moving cable onto which small gondolas hook in quick succession.
That’s why you can access Klein Matterhorn on your date, using the Matterhorn Express as far as Trockener Steg

sorry 1960 man for repeated questions on this thread but I am still confused.
Even if I refer 2280 for Modern Matterhorn Express, the time table shows a break between 24th April and 1st May

Hi Rohan
This is really a mystery to me so I decided to do a bit of Sherlock work… I just talked to a lady at the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, she says it will be open on the 26th April and their website has the most reliable information, and she wants everyone to know that you can visit the Glacier Paradise all year round, 360 days a year. I insisted that other sites say the cable cars are not running and she said it’s not true.
I will call the other sites next week to see why there is conflicting information though…
Not sure if this helps, but I guess you can assume it will be open? 😀

Thank you so much Maria and 1960man for the confirmations.
Both of you have been very helpful. You both are awesome.
Incidentally,
I also got a response from Matterhorn Info email id today and they have confirmed that Matterhorn can be reach all year long.
I admit that the timetable looks confusing but I will take all of your words for it. I was being doubly sure because I didnt want to get into situation where in I reach Tr. Steg and find it closed 🙂
So,
Does the Matterhorn Express Gondola goes from Zermatt to Klein Matterhorn directly with no changes ?
Thanks
Rohan

Hi Rohan
I don’t think there is one single gondola all the way to the top, if I remember correctly you have to change once or twice at the in between stations. It’s all signposted and there is plenty of staff operating all the gondolas and ski lifts so you will not get lost, just keep going up until the end and when you feel slightly breathless because of the altitude you have arrived at the right place haha 🙂
