Hi, I had worked on this at the beginning of my trip, but now I need to finalize my plans.I need some advise about going to the Trift Bridge, Aare gorge Gorge and the Reichenbach in the Meiringen area. We are traveling in July, my husband and myself and We are leaving our week in Wengen and heading to Lucerne for three days. We want to do this on our way to Lucern. We want to leave Wengen early around 7 and was wondering how we would do all three. We really want to hike to the Trift Bridge and experience crossing a suspension bridge. What would the trains from Wengen look like and how would the waterfalls happen in this time frame. We do not mind arriving in Lucerne late that day. Also what do we do with our luggage. If we send it ahead, we will not get to Lucerne on time before the office closes. Thanks so much

This one needs more expertise than I can offer. However, here a few random thoughts.

    The time table will help.

You probably have considered this information, as well:

I don’t know/understand/ have not studied the details of what you plan, but there might be a station in your routing that has a left luggage office, which you might pass (or change trains at) on the way out to Luzern.

You have noted, I believe, that the left luggage office at Luzern close at 1900 hours.

You might try the luggage service that delivers to your door ( or hotel.)

Maybe you could send most luggage ahead…..and get it on the morning after you arrive.

This one clearly needs more expertise than I can offer.

Arno and Annika (the forum moderators) are good at these kinds of puzzles. Let’s see what they say.

    Hi Oceanrose10,

I think it’s a bit ambitious to do this all on one day. The Aare gorge and Reichenbach fall are pretty easy to reach from Meiringen, even on foot, but do take time to see. The Trift bridge requires you to take a bus to the bus stop “Nessental, Triftbahn”, then take the funicular up and start hiking. Please see here for details: http://www.grimselwelt.ch/gri msel-experience/activities/ trift-bridge-hike/.

The left luggage office is Meiringen is open until 6 PM.

I hope this helps you to plan. Have fun!

We are now thinking of just doing the bridge and maybe doing a train from Wengen to Meiringen and doing the other things another day. So, when I get off the train from Wengen at Meiringen, I can leave my luggage there before I do the hike?

<<“So, when I get off the train from Wengen at Meiringen, I can leave my luggage there before I do the hike?”>>

As long as you watch for the opening and closing hours , and observe them, you can not only leave it there, but pick it up as you pass through on your return. 😉

    Follow the link below.

Allow a few minutes for them to get it, because, if the station is at a busy time, such as just before a train leaves, they may take a few minutes to retrieve it.
