    Hi Sir/ Mdm,

My wife and I are planning a 3D2N trip to Montreux to experience the Christmas spirit. However, there are just too much information in the internet and I’m confused on how I show plan the route. Here is what I have planned currently:

20 December 2018 – I will be arriving Montreux from Zermat probably in the morning 10am+. So we will be checking into the hotel at Montreux. Due to the time constraint, I’m thinking to start the day at Gruyères, hoping to experience the Cailler Chocolate Factory (in Broc), La Maison du Gruyère (Cheese Factory), and Gruyères Castle, Golden Panoramic Express Train. Thereafter, we will head back to Montreux hotel. Do you think there will be sufficient time?

21 December 2018 (Our focus is Christmas) – To start off the day we will be travelling to Rochers-de-Naye to find Santa. Thereafter, we will be travel back to Montreux and walk along the Lakeside Promenade Fleuri to Chillon Castle. After the Chillon, should we travel to villenueve or vevey? I am also confuse where will Christmas Noel will be held. Is it along the Lakeside? Appreciate it if the route we are going do make sense. Thank you.

    Hello Jeremy,

Santa Claus’s house at Rochers-de-Naye opens on Dec. 22: http://www.montreuxnoel.com/e n-11-santa-claus-s-house.html I suppose you are going there with your kids, otherwise I don’t really see the point. Rochers-de-Naye on Dec. 21st should be nice anyway.

The Christmas tourist attractions in Montreux are scheduled for Dec. 22-24. If that’s what you mean by “Christmas Noël” then you should get back to Montreux, but, as said, not on the 21st. I’m not aware of a possible tourist Christmas either in Villeneuve or Vevey. As for non-tourist Christmas attractions, they are family and religious affairs. Christmas eve church services will be held everywhere on Dec. 24.

I think your plan for the 20th is feasible. Maybe (assuming you are travelling by train) when you arrive in Montreux put your luggage in storage and go on straight to Gruyères, and check in when you come back. It is not usual to get your room before 2:00 pm anyway.

    Hi Jeremy,

As for December 20: that could work if you depart soon after reaching Montreux and plan your schedule in advance. You can use the timetable to do so: http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable.

There is a lakeside Christmas market in Montreux. You’ll find a link to more information of this market and some others here: http://www.myswissalps.com/ac tivities/christmasmark ets. For Christmas festivities in Vevey, please see http://www.vevey.ch/N13487/du -29-11-au-24-12-noel-a-vevey.html.

I also found a package that more or less fits your plans: https://www.tours4fun. com/montreux-christmas-break-4-day.html

    Hi Snowman

Thanks for your help! I’m looking at the website you have provided and I notice the event starts from 22 November 2018. Could you clarify? Many thanks.
