Hi Cos24,
Take a look at the SBB timetable here for departure times on the Golden Pass. You can take a 09:08 departure or a 17:08 departure (Interlaken Ost to Montreux via Zweisimmen).
In mid-June sunrise is at 05:30 and sunset at 21:30 so either way you will have daylight, its hard to say if one time of day will be better than another.

Okay thanks. My experience with other parts of the world is that when you are in mountainous areas the time of day that you go through them makes a difference due to shadows making the visibility not as clear.

Hi Cos24,
Good point on the shadows but I can’t say how it will affect the train journey for you in June – it could be cloudy as well.
Montreux is South-West of Interlaken if that helps your decision in regards to the sun.

Indeed it’s hard to take the sun into account as the trains twist and turn quite a lot. You can avoid the two hours after sunrise and before sunset to prevent entire valleys being in the shadow.

Lucas, I see the train time table but I see trains leaving after 5 p.m. on June 1st using the cities and route that you posted above (Interlaken Ost toMontreux via Zweisimmen). Am I missing something?

No not at all! There are many trains running that route but only one or two a day on the actual panoramic trains.
Click the + sign on the train time you want and it will show more details.
Under comments it will say MOB Panoramic or GoldenPass Panoramic. If you choose another train it will be a standard regional train.
Cheers!

Okay great, thank you Lucas. If I do want to go at a later time on the regional train does it follow the same route as the golden pass? Would I have about the same views?

Yes, be sure to use the advanced search options and enter the via-stations Meiringen and Zweisimmen. any train listed will run the same route.
You can also just do one or two sections of the line as well, rather than the entire line if you want – read about the route on the Golden Pass page I linked to on my first reply.
Cheers,
Lucas
