Nap on the Glacier Express?

We’re taking the Glacier Express from St Moritz to Zermatt. An hour after we arrive in Zermatt we will be enjoying a lovely Gondola Fondue evening. So it is going to be a very long day. A wonderful one I hope, but definitely a long one.

I know the Glacier Express is a very scenic route. But I’m wondering if there is any section of it where the viewing is perhaps not that special, if perhaps we want to take a nap en-route?

Hallo, I hope this is a serious question…..

The Glacier Express is the most scenic train route in Switserland. You do not sleep on this train, because it is to beautiful tour to miss any part of the train route. Better you can sleep in your hotel, and don’t go to late to bed…………..

    Hi Canadarocks,

I wouldn’t recommend to nap on the Glacier Express, but if you want to there’s a tunnel section a bit after Andermatt. It takes just 10 to 15 minutes or so, so that allows for a power nap only 🙂 The section between Brig and Visp is not very scenic, but that’s just 10 minutes. You will cover the leg from Visp to Zermatt on your way out too, so you’ll have a second chance to see it. That’s about an hour.

Thank you both. Good advice about the Visp to Zermatt section Arno, as we will retrace that route on our way to Lauterbrunnen a few days later.
