We are visiting Italy in end of October and would like to get flavor of Swiss alps while in Milan for 4 days, so planning a 2 day (one night trip) to St. Moritz.

It looks like not much is happening in St. Moritz on 1st November when we plan to be there but our main interest would be in Bernina express scenic travel from Tirano to St. Moritz and return back next day after a night stay at St. Moritz.

We will be travelling with parents so not interested in hiking type activities. Cable car would have been perfect but looks like closed during our visit.

Is a 2 day trip from Milan in early November to St. Moritz good plan to just enjoy Bernina express route? Any other old people friendly activity that we can do while in that area, like cable car, lift, rotair?

    Thanks!

    Hi phxtraveller!

The Bernina Express route is absolutely beautiful, so yes, it would be worth a side trip from Milan in my opinion: myswissalps.com/bernin aexpress. It will be low season in the St. Moritz area indeed, but the cable car to Diavolezza seems to be serviced: https://www.engadin.st moritz.ch. Apart from that, you can take easy strolls along the lake or enjoy scenic rides. A bus ride along the likes toward Maloja would be great, or a train ride to Zernez in the Lower Engadine, or a trip up north in the direction of Chur following part of the Glacier Express route (myswissalps.com/glacie rexpress).
