Hi there, we are two indian families travelling to switzerland from the 17th to the 24th of may.Our group comprises of 5 teenagers nd 2 couples. We have already booked the air tickets, our chalet in Grindelwald and also we have got our Swiss rail pass.So what we basically need help is for planning the seven days in switzerland so that we can get the best out of the trip and see the attractions. As mentioned before we have already booked a chalet, so we are looking for day trips from grindelwald. We are also looking for some adventure(paragliding, etc) and easy hikes and some snow! We are travelling on,sort of a tight budget so please could u recommend some money saving tips like for the food, etc. we plan to cook our dinner at the chalet, but what about the lunch. Thank You.

Thanks for your reply….it has got us started as of now.
We have a few more queries….
1.On the day when we arrive to our apartment in Schwendi (That is at around 4pm),could we go visit the blue ice grotto? What should be the best time in the day to visit the blue ice grotto?
2.On our day trip to Jungfrau ,what else can we see along with Jungfraujoch? Could we also visit Maennlichenbahn, Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen Valley waterfalls ?
3.Also, given a choice between lake Blausee and Bachalpsee Lake, which one should we visit?

    Hello neeta.

    1) It’s quite late to get up to the Upper Grindelwald glacier, if you arrive at 4 pm. You’ll have to get to the footpath leading to the stairs first, and this takes a bus ride from the Grindelwald railway station. Next, it’s another 15 minutes of walking before your reach the stairs, and then you have go get up too. Please note that the grotto itself seems to be closed, since the glacier has drawn back too much. According to the Grindelwald tourism website, you can climb still the stairs though and take a look at the glacier gorge.

    2) The Männlichenbahn is still closed down during your stay. Grindelwald, First, the Bachalpsee, the Lauterbrunnen valley with its waterfalls and Mürren are excellent alternatives.

    3) Both are very different. Blausee is more of a family attraction, with a forest, a trout farm and boat rides over the lake. The Bachalpsee is a mountain lake with beautiful views, requiring a 1 hour walk from First. The hiking path will probably be open by mid-May, and if it is, my advice would be to go there instead of the Blausee.
