I would be travelling to Switzerland for 5 days in July. My itinerary is as follows –

– reach Zurich HB in the morning, visit the various sites in Zurich during the day; head to Frutigen in the afternoon where I will be putting up

– visit to Schilthorn and Interlaken area on day 2

– visit to Lucerne, Mt Rigi/Pilatus on day 3

– take Glacier Express from Brig to Chur on day 4, stay overnight in Chur

– take th Bernina Express from Chur to Tirano on day 5

My questions are –

– Since we are 5 oy us and will be having 5 medium sized luggages, are there any lockers in Zurich (at Zurich HB or nearby)? If yes, whate are the charges for keeping them for 5-6 hours?

– Is Swiss Travel Pass a good option for me? If not, what are the alternatives?

Yes, there are luggage lockers at Zurich station – about 7chf (you’ll need coins) for 24 hours.

Yes, I think the Swiss Travel Pass is a good option. The 4 day pass for days 2-5 and buy a regular ticket from Zurich to Frutigen.

Is it 7 CHF per piece of luggage? How large are the lockers?

Per locker. They have 2 or 3 sizes but I can’t recall exact dimensions. They used to post them on the SBB website but don’t anymore. They largest lockers are quite big though.

Luggage lockers at Luzern are:

• Small – 24.8 cm x 42.0 cm x 75.0 cm

• Medium – 31.7 cm x 61.5 cm x 75.0 cm

• Large – 44.7 cm x 61.5 cm x 88.0 cm

I think these would probably be typical of what you could expect to find at other stations that have lockers.

You can’t book lockers, it’s first come first serve. They’re usually available.
