Does Zermatt-Rothorn lift operate on August 8?

We purchased “Rothorn Lift Ticket from Zermatt: Matterhorn” from Viator for August 8, 2019.

There was some indication that the lift was not running due to some structural problems. When I get on their site to see if they are selling tickets now, they do not show any tickets. I am not sure if that is because they are sold out or if the Rothorn Lift is not running. Does anyone have knowledge about this that they would kindly share?

    Thank You!

I’m not sure exactly what lift that voucher applies to but you’ll find the timetables at http://www.matterhornparadise .ch/PDF%20Deutsch/Aktu ell/Winter%20Flyer/201 9-20/Fahrplan_Sommer_201 9_Alle%20Anlagen_d_e.p df.

You can also see which cable ways (black lines) are operating in summer on this map.

    Hi Masbhygirl!

Viator currently only offers for the winter season, so I’m not sure how you got a ticket for August 8 2019: https://www.viator.com /tours/Zermatt/Rothorn -Best-view-to-the-Matterhorn/d5014-45870P3. The last section Blauherd-Rothorn is indeed closed this summer. I’d contact Viator to find out what can be done.

    Please see https://www.myswissalps.com/forum/topic/blauherd-rothorn-cable-car-closed-zermatt too.

    UPDATE:

For anyone who is following this discussion. I called Viator and they said it is running, they are just sold out of tickets until December. Hopefully this will help someone else with the same question. If we run into problems, I will post information about closure/problems with the Rothorn lift.

    Thank you!

I don’t think Viator is correct (in my opinion it is easier to wait until you are in Zermatt and buy lift tickets on the day as this enables flexibility in case of weather or mechanical issues)

Blauherd – Rothorn has been listed as closed all summer since the end of the ski season in late April. I don’t believe that has changed

Zermatt – Blauherd only, is open

I’d put my money on 1960man. I reckon the actual operators of the cable way would have a better idea of what is actually operating than a tour consolidator company.

I’m afraid the official timetable linked to by Rockoyster provides correct information, meaning Blauherd-Rothorn is closed. The route doesn’t show up in the Swiss timetable (http://www.myswissalps.com/ti metable) either. You could ask the Klein Matterhorn cable car company and/or the Zermatt tourism organisation for a confirmation and pass this on to Viator.
