Hi ,
We are planning to come to Swiss from 26 july to 3 Aug.(2 adults and 2 kids)
We are planning to stay all the days in Luzern and travel the country from luzern
Need your suggestion
  • Should we buy a 4 days or 8 days
  • Can we buy the pass at Zurich airport , our flight reaches at around 8:00AM
  • Can the pass be used to get discounted fare in Glacier trains and which would be best for us since we are in luzern
thanks in advance
Manoj

Hi Manoj, and welcome the the forum. If you intend to travel throughout the country with Lucerne as your base, I assume you'll be making quite some long and expensive train trips. In that case an 8 day Swiss Saver Pass would definitely be the best option. If there are some days with shorter local trips as well, a Swiss Saver Flexi Pass is a good alternative. In both cases, children under 16 will travel along for free with the free STS Family Card.

Purchase options can be found on both pages I linked to; just fill out your country of residence and other data in the upper right corner. You'll also find links to downloadable maps of validity there, showing the coverage of the passes. The Glacier Express is included in a Swiss Pass, meaning that the trip itself is for free, but you will have to pay separately for seat reservations. It's quite a detour to make this trip from Lucerne. You can use the timetable to plan such trips. The Golden Pass train to Interlaken, Zweisimmen and Gstaad would be easier in your case.

Hi manoj. Yes, the Swiss Pass is valid for Golden Pass trains. The resellers we work with are reliable partners, but yes, purchasing your pass at the railway station of Zurich Airport is possible. You do have to pay in Swiss francs in that case. If you fill out your country of residence and preferred pass type in the upper right corner of the Swiss Pass page, purchase options will be displayed. Just click 'Show more information' for further specifics.
