    Hello,
We (2 Adults and 1 five yrs old kid) are traveling from US to Switzerland late August (next week). I am confused with several options available for rail passes, appreciate any help/guidance based on the itinerary below:

Staying in Zurich near Zurich HB Station
Day 1: Arriving early at Zurich airport, train to Main station, local Zurich sightseeing
    Day 2: Zurich – Jungfrau – Zurich
Day 3: Zurich – Mt Titlis – Zurich
Day 4: one of the scenic trains/?/to be planned

Please advise if 4 days Swiss pass or half-fare card or anything else would make more sense. Thanks!!

    Hello visitor1,

Assuming you do some kind of longer trip on day 4, a 4-day Swiss Saver Pass fits your plans (full calculations can be made as explained here). You won’t be traveling a lot on day 1, but the 3-day Swiss Saver Flexi Pass is only slightly cheaper. The extra pass day would still be beneficial to you as it includes the ride from the airport, free museums entrance, free city transport, and free boat trips. That may all come in handy on this first day.

Pass information is here. Prices in USD are here (free delivery in 3 days).

Most of the scenic trains are far away from Zurich. The Golden Pass route may be doable though, but it’s a long trip: Zurich – Lucerne – Meiringen – Interlaken – Zweisimmen – Montreux, back to Zurich. The cogwheel train up the Rigi near Lucerne might be a better alternative, and free with the Swiss Saver Pass. It can easily be combined with a boat trip on Lake Lucerne, which would be free as well. Schedules can be found in the timetable.

    Enjoy your stay!
