Swiss Travel Pass + Golden Pass Line
A couple is visiting Switzerland for a week in early June and wants to know about the Swiss Travel Pass while planning to travel on the Golden Pass Line. They are curious if they can only reserve seats in second class with their 2nd class Swiss Travel Pass or if there are options to upgrade to first class. They seek confirmation and guidance on this matter.
- You can only reserve seats in the second class carriages if you have a 2nd class Swiss Travel Pass for the Golden Pass Line.
- If you want to travel in the first class, reserve a first class seat and pay the additional CHF 12.50 per person for the upgrade at the station before boarding.
- Make sure to reserve your seats in advance to secure your preferred options, especially during the busy summer season.

Hello – my wife and I will be in Switzerland for a week in early June. If we purchase the 8-day Swiss Travel Pass (2nd class), I understand that the Golden Pass Line would be covered by the pass. My question is when reserving seats on the Golden Pass line trains website, I see availability of first class, second class and bistro/restaurant carriage. If we have the Swiss Travel Pass (2nd class), are we allowed to reserve seats in second class carriages only for the Golden Pass line?
Thank you in advance!
