First want to say thank you to the Forum moderators; you provided absolutely invaluable information & tips. The itinerary we followed is attached. We are not promoting the hotels we stayed in…just showing them. All were very comfortable & near the train station. We particularly liked Interlaken. It is centrally located for so many interesting day trips.Highly recommend downloading the SBB mobile site to your phone. From it view any train schedule. Easy to see how you can change times & destinations which we did more than once.

A day trip to Schilthorn via Murren is a trip that gives you a feel for all the transportation modes; trains (2), funicular, & gondola. We hiked from the train station at the top end of the funicular to Murren. We returned the next day & took the train to Murren since the web cams showed Schilthorn to be clear. By the time we made it there the clouds began up-welling from the surrounding valleys. Not totally socked in but quite obscured. So we exercised Plan B & descended down to Birg where it was clear & sunny!

We are already talking about a possible return trip.
