Hi, we are taking the 0918 from Luzern and need to change trains at Arth Goldau. We arrive at Arth G at 0945 on platform 5 and need to get to platform 4 for the 0949 to Lugano. Looking on the SBB map this looks a long walk (we’ll have luggage). Is it really possible to do it in 4 minutes? It looks like we have to cross roads etc. Our timing is tight as we have booked a ticket from Chiasso at 1131 to Varenna Esino. It might be best if we take the 0839 from Luzern as that will give us more transfer time at Arth G. Any thoughts please…

This is more than enough time. Track 4 and 5 are at the same platform, changing will not take more than 1 minute. I don’t know why you think you have to cross roads? – This is not the road, it is the local bus station. See the station map here: http://www.sbb.ch/content/dam/infrastruktur/trafimage/bahnhofplaene/plan-arth-goldau-plakat.pdf

The trains from Lucerne and Zurich connect to each other in Arth-Goldau, this is by timetable design. There will be many travelers changing to the connecting train in Arth-Goldau at platform 4. You can of course take the train at 08:39 (provided you do not travel with a super saver ticket) if you want yourself allow more time to change platforms. There are even two coffee shops to kill time.

PS: Google map is no longer up to date, the station has been rebuilt.

    Hi Sweyne,

No worries. I agree with Trainliner. The 4 mins transfer time is sufficient for this connection as all you need to do is to walk across the same platform to get on the next train.
