Hi Libbis! Zermatt, being a popular tourist spot, pays a lot of attention to the national day on August 1. There’s a festival with local bands and clubs and often a firework show later in the evening. The exact program, including locations of the festivities, will be displayed shortly in advance, for example at the tourist office. All towns have their own way of celebrating August 1, but often folklore events, live music, children’s processions, fireworks and bonfires (especially on mountain peaks) are part of the ceremony.
