    Hello,

I will be visiting Switzerland in the middle of November.

I somehow read about Tageskarte Gemeinde. I understand that this pass can only be bought by Swiss resident in their specific Gemeinde and the number is very limited. But I also read many Swiss resident help their friends who is not a resident by buying this pass for them.

I am wondering if this pass coverage is the same with Saver Day Pass? Can someone share with me the benefits of this pass in term of coverage?

    Thank you.

    Regrads,

    Zakuan

Hi Zakuan, and thanks for joining MySwissAlps!

As far as I can tell, the “Tageskarte Gemeinde” is no different from the general SBB 1-day travelpass (which can serve as an add-on to a Swiss Half Fare Card: http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isshalffarecard/howtou se), the exception being that a limited number of them is provided at a reduced price to residents of many Swiss towns. It’s not something you as a tourist can avail of. There are good alternatives to tourists, such as the Saver Day Pass, which (if bought well in advance) isn’t that much more expensive than the residents’ offer you’re mentioning: http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass.

Whether a Saver Day Pass is the best solution for your trips, depends on the whole of your itinerary. If you plan to travel on multiple days, including mountain transportation, other passes such as the Swiss Travel Pass (http://www.myswissalps.com/sw isstravelpass) are probably better. Please find a calculation example at http://www.myswissalps.com/sa verdaypass/details, and a guide on calculating the best option for your specific plans at http://www.myswissalps.com/tr ain/ticketspasses/prac tical/chooserailpass.
